Registered Nurse – Oncology (Grow Your Own) – Casual

About the role

This internal posting offers a casual Registered Nurse position within the Oncology Clinic at Louise Marshall Hospital. It is a "Grow Your Own" opportunity designed for nurses who wish to develop a career in oncology but have not yet completed the required specialized training.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients and families, providing education on chemotherapy and biotherapy.
• Administer and teach chemotherapy/biotherapy treatments.
• Perform medical day‑care procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, phlebotomy, IVIG, and blood transfusions.
• Insert and manage IV lines, PICC lines, and Portacath access.
• Participate in developing and implementing patient treatment plans and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate referrals, research activities, and supportive/palliative care.

Required profile

• Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
• BScN or related degree.
• Completion of de Souza Institute Provincial Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course.
• Completion of de Souza Institute Foundations in Oncology Nursing course.
• Current BCLS certification; ACLS preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and within an inter‑professional team.
