QA Technician – One-Year Contract

About the role

The Quality Assurance Technician will support the QC & EHSS Manager on a one‑year contract covering maternity leave. Working in the brewery’s laboratory, you will ensure raw materials, in‑process and packaged beers meet chemical, physical, microbiological and sensory specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform testing on incoming raw materials, in‑process and packaged products.
• Verify chemical and physical specifications such as alcohol content, pH, acidity, bitterness, colour, sorbic acid, VDK and other parameters.
• Check packaging specifications including CO₂ levels, DO/TPO, pasteurisation, can seams and overall integrity.
• Conduct microbiological testing using aseptic sampling, traditional methods and PCR.
• Carry out sensory evaluations, daily taste panels and flavour profile assessments.
• Maintain clear communication with brewing, batching, packaging and maintenance teams.
• Keep the quality labs clean, organized and compliant.
• Participate in product and process improvement initiatives and project work.
• Support production, quality and safety goals and contribute to the Food Safety Program.

Required profile

• Laboratory experience (required).
• Experience in a QC/QA role within brewing or beverage production (preferred).
• Understanding of brewing and fermentation processes (asset).
• Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation used for beverage analysis.
• Sensory training and off‑flavour detection experience (asset).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Detail‑oriented with strong record‑keeping abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Problem‑solving and strategic thinking skills.
• Degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, engineering, brewing or related field (preferred).
