Powerline Technician / Foreman – Distribution

About the role

Valard Construction is seeking experienced Powerline Technicians and Foremen to join its Distribution team in Lloydminster, serving both Alberta and Saskatchewan. Reporting to the Foreman/Ops Lead, you will construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, splice, terminate, and maintain overhead and underground power cables, vaults, conduits, and related equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting, fault locating, and repairs on distribution networks.
• Operate specialized tools such as cable pulling rigs, fault locators, splicing kits, and test instruments.
• Conduct high‑voltage switching and grounding in line with utility safety standards.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, single‑line diagrams, and underground cable maps.
• Respond to emergency outages and execute timely restoration work.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and test results.

Required profile

• Journeyperson Powerline Technician certification.
• Proven experience with power distribution systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical theory, construction practices, and safety procedures.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work on‑call for emergencies.
