Pharmacy Assistant

About the role

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to support the delivery of safe and effective medication services at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Working under the Drug Distribution Manager and a pharmacist, you will help manage the full medication lifecycle in a busy hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Procure, store, and manage inventory of pharmaceuticals.
• Record, manufacture, compound, dispense, package, label, price, issue and distribute medications according to departmental policies.
• Operate automated dispensing cabinets and support distribution processes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory standards.
• Travel to other sites as needed and assist with weekend and evening shifts.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education and graduation from a recognized pharmacy assistant program.
• Pharmacy Technician Certificate or equivalent.
• One year of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or Technician in a hospital (preferred).
• Current satisfactory criminal records check, vulnerable sector, child and adult abuse registry checks.
• Physical ability to stand, lift and perform repetitive motions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinet operation.
• Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and related software.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations.
• Basic information systems technology awareness.
