Perioperative Nurse Clinician (Full‑Time Temporary)

About the role

The Perioperative Nurse Clinician serves as a Clinical Educator and professional role model for nursing staff within the Quality department. Reporting to the Manager of Nursing Practice and Education, the role drives policy development, quality improvement, and evidence‑based, patient‑family‑centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop, facilitate, coordinate and evaluate educational programs for nursing staff, including orientation, skills training on new technology, medications, documentation and procedures.
• Support the creation and revision of policies, procedures and quality‑improvement initiatives that promote interprofessional collaboration.
• Provide clinical coaching, mentorship and leadership to enhance knowledge transfer at both corporate and departmental levels.
• Evaluate research, synthesize best practices and implement improvements in perioperative care.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing or BScN with relevant OR/Perioperative experience.
• Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Certificate in OR/Perioperative Nursing and Canadian Perioperative Nursing Certificate (CPNc).
• Minimum 5 years recent clinical experience in OR/Perioperative settings and 2 years in teaching, competency assessment and program development.
• Membership in a professional association (RNAO, ORNAC, OPANA) and experience facilitating AORN programs.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
