Payroll & Benefits Specialist

About the role

Scotia Investments Limited is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join its Shared Services team in Bedford. Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Lead, you will manage payroll and benefits for multiple companies across several provinces, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Process accurate and compliant payroll for the Scotia Investments Family of Companies, adhering to legislation and data protection requirements.
• Administer employee programs, including enrolments, changes, and terminations across payroll, pension, and benefits platforms.
• Respond to payroll, pension, and benefits inquiries and support team leaders in using systems and processes.
• Complete reconciliations, remittances, and billings, and conduct audits to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with external vendors to support smooth program and plan administration.
• Partner with the People & Culture team on disability case management and attendance programs.

Required profile

• PCP designation (required).
• Diploma or degree in business administration, commerce, accounting, human resources, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• CPHR or CEBS designation (asset).
• Experience working with collective agreements.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Experience with Payworks or a similar payroll/HRIS platform.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
