Part‑Time Child, Youth & Family Instructor

About the role

The YMCA of the National Capital Region is seeking a part‑time Child, Youth & Family (CYF) Instructor to deliver high‑quality recreational programs for children, teens and families. You will join a collaborative team that supports physical, social and emotional development through engaging activities and birthday party services.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, set up and facilitate a variety of youth‑focused recreational programs and events.
• Supervise participants, ensuring safety and fostering a positive, inclusive environment.
• Assist with the delivery of birthday parties and special events, coordinating activities and resources.
• Maintain program equipment, spaces and documentation in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Collaborate with fellow staff to continuously improve program quality and participant experience.

Required profile

• Commitment to the YMCA mission, values and inclusive community focus.
• Ability to work effectively with children, teens and families of diverse backgrounds.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as program schedules require.

Required skills

• Experience leading recreational or youth programs.
• Basic knowledge of safety protocols for group activities.
• Ability to set up and maintain program equipment.
