Mental Health Counsellor – Contract (up to 9 months)

About the role

The Mental Health Counsellor joins the Rural Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Allied Health Program to provide individual, couple, family and group counseling across the Greater Napanee Health Home. Services are delivered virtually, in office settings, and through occasional home visits, supporting community members with mental health concerns.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive social histories, assessments, and risk evaluations, delivering therapy in various formats and providing occasional home visits.
• Facilitate referrals, advocacy, and connections to community resources, ensuring clients receive needed services.
• Develop and co‑facilitate group programs, health promotion activities, and educational materials for the community.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records, track referrals, manage schedules, and contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and regional stakeholders to align services, avoid duplication, and continuously improve program delivery.

Required profile

• Master of Social Work (or relevant Master’s) with active registration in Ontario (OCSWSSW or COT).
• Minimum three years recent experience in health/social services, including brief solution‑focused and single‑session counseling.
• Experience working in rural settings, with Indigenous health issues, seniors, and trauma‑informed care is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle access, and ability to travel within Lennox and Addington.
• Current Criminal and Vulnerable Persons Check and proof of vehicle liability insurance.
