Mechanical Quality Control Inspector (Nuclear)

About the role

Black & McDonald’s Power Generation team is expanding and seeks a committed Mechanical Quality Control Inspector for nuclear projects. The role is based in Pickering and reports to the QC Manager, handling daily inspections, tests, and documentation to meet safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform work activities safely and in compliance with Black & McDonald Safety Program and customer requirements.
• Conduct receipt, in‑process and final inspection and test activities, maintaining accurate status of items.
• Interface with Regulatory Authorities and perform special process monitoring activities.
• Ensure correctness of work sign‑off related to inspection and test activities.
• Aid implementation of the Quality Management System and programs within PGR.
• Prepare or review Inspection and Test Plans and coordinate QC activities with clients or subcontractors.
• Liaise with Pressure Boundary jurisdiction and ensure preparation of Manufacturer’s Data Reports.
• Verify inspections and tests per plans, document results, and ensure proper use of measurement equipment.
• Identify and control non‑conforming items according to Black & McDonald procedures.

Required profile

• Change orientation, problem solving and innovation, teamwork and collaboration.
• Minimum two years of college or university technical education or related experience.
• Minimum ten years construction trades experience, including at least five years QA/QC experience with non‑conformance control and inspection/test plan generation.
• Experience in the nuclear industry considered an asset.

Required skills

• Certified CSA W 178.2 Level II or III (or equivalent API, AWS, National Board certifications).
• Comprehensive knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
• Good oral and written communication skills in English.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook, and Excel.
• Ability to work outside regular business hours as required.
• OPG Security Clearance as required.
