Material Research & Sourcing Associate

About the role

We are seeking a Material Research & Sourcing Associate to research, source, and commercialize fabrics and trims that align with our product strategy, design direction, quality standards, cost goals, and seasonal timelines. The role works closely with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Production, and Quality Assurance teams to deliver commercially viable material solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Research and maintain a global supplier network for fabrics and trims, monitoring market trends, material innovations, and sustainability advancements.
• Support mill and supplier strategies to improve lead times and margin opportunities, and partner with Production on alternative sourcing initiatives.
• Source and nominate fabrics and trims for seasonal collections, presenting options that meet product vision and performance requirements.
• Evaluate lead times, MOQ/MCQ requirements, and supplier readiness; coordinate commercialization activities and communicate status with suppliers.
• Initiate and track fabric and trim lab dips, coordinate color submissions and approvals with QA and Design, and verify colors.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, providing material specifications, readiness dates, and supporting seasonal reviews and risk assessments.
• Maintain accurate material data in PLM systems, create specification sheets, master records, and support BOM creation.

Required profile

• College diploma or university degree in Textiles, Apparel, Fashion, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Product Development or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in material sourcing, research, or related roles within the apparel or textile industry.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
