Marine Captain

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Marine Captain to lead the Safety and Security Vessel in Kitimat, BC. The Captain will be responsible for crew safety, efficient vessel operation, and support tanker line handling and LNG loading activities.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the vessel safely in compliance with Transport Canada and CSA regulations.
• Maximize operational efficiency while minimizing fuel and supplies waste.
• Follow client‑issued project rules and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain required inventory of fuel and ship spares.
• Conduct pre‑departure checks and regular inspections.
• Provide daily reports on fuel usage, labour, damages and incidents for client billing.
• Complete handover logs and ensure smooth vessel handover to the incoming captain.
• Oversee day‑to‑day general maintenance.
• Ensure the safety, health and welfare of all crew and passengers on board.
• Maintain appropriate crew levels in line with Safe Manning requirements.
• Deliver verbal and written performance reviews for crew members.
• Mentor crew, supporting skills development and training.
• Promote a positive team environment and act as an ambassador for Bridgemans.

Required profile

• Three (3) years of relevant marine experience (preferred).
• Valid Transport Canada SVOP or 60T + COC certification.
• Valid Seafarers Medical certificate.
• Valid MED/STCW certification.
