Manager, Sales Tax Advisory, Sales and Use Tax

About the role

Ryan is hiring a Manager, Sales Tax Advisory, Sales and Use Tax for its Transaction Tax Group in the Vancouver, BC area. The manager conducts or manages fee-based advisory support services for clients, either personally or through the Sales Tax Advisory Team, and coaches the team on consulting, advisory and training engagements alongside the Director, Sales Tax. It is a hybrid role with up to 20% travel in BC and across Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Assign and direct advisory staff on engagements, including scheduling, progress and completion, and review reports for completeness and accuracy before sending them to clients
• Perform client engagements alone or with team members, and prepare and submit engagement proposals under the Director's supervision
• Prepare and present tax seminars and workshops for clients
• Take part in in-house training on sales tax, help develop new service lines and support the personal development of direct reports
• Supervise employees in the Sales Tax Advisory Group, as the role may require

Required profile

• Professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA) or law degree, with seven or more years of accounting or tax-related consulting experience
• Strong knowledge of GST, Quebec Sales Tax and provincial retail sales tax legislation, ideally in the commodity tax field
• Strong written and spoken English; valid driver's licence and Canadian passport
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Outlook, and internet research

• Salary of $90,000 - $140,000, with possible incentive compensation
