Trust Lead

About the role

The Trust Lead supports Clark Wilson LLP’s trust administration, financial controls, compliance, and client service requirements. Reporting to the Controller, this role ensures trust transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with legislation, Law Society rules, and firm policies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage trust receipts, payouts, transfers, stale‑dated cheques and invested trust accounts, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
• Review and maintain supporting documentation for all trust transactions and monitor unclaimed trust funds.
• Coordinate electronic fund transfers, currency conversions, and annual T3/T5 tax reporting.
• Provide guidance on trust processes, identify risks, and support consistent, compliant practices across the firm.
• Cover vacation periods for trust‑related activities to maintain continuity.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in trust accounting, legal accounting, or financial administration, preferably within a law firm.
• Strong understanding of trust accounting practices, Law Society requirements, regulatory obligations and internal controls.
• Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CMS and banking portals.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management and detail‑orientation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
