Machinist – Precision Manufacturing

About the role

Join BP Machine Ltd. as a Machinist in Edmonton, working in a fast‑paced automotive and general manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for producing high‑precision components using both conventional and computer‑controlled equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Compute dimensions and tolerances for machine parts and verify them with precision measuring instruments.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables.
• Set up, adjust and operate conventional and CNC machine tools, including boring machines, drill presses, milling machines, planers, sawing machines and tapping machines.
• Fit and assemble components to close tolerances.
• Perform specialized machining processes such as water‑jet cutting.
• Conduct final inspections to ensure products meet specifications.

Required profile

• College‑level certificate or diploma (1‑2 years) in a relevant technical program.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive or general manufacturing machining.
• Ability to work independently in a physically demanding, fast‑paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.
• Own safety equipment, including steel‑toed boots.

Required skills

• Use of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers).
• Operation of conventional and CNC machine tools.
• Water‑jet machining.
• Experience with boring machines, drill presses, milling machines, planers, sawing machines and tapping machines.
• Interpretation of engineering drawings and blueprints.
