Live-in Caregiver for Persons with Disabilities

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is a live‑in caregiver role based in Charlottetown. You will reside in the employer’s home and provide comprehensive support to individuals with disabilities and children, ensuring their safety, well‑being, and daily needs are met.

Key responsibilities

• Administer medications and assist with personal hygiene, bathing, and grooming.
• Prepare meals, manage household chores, and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Provide companionship, emotional support, and supervision for children, including school transportation and homework assistance.
• Organise recreational activities, outings, and social development programs for children.
• Travel with the family as needed, supporting child supervision and special‑needs care during trips.
• Implement discipline and personal‑care routines according to parental guidelines.
• Handle up to 23 kg (50 lb) of weight when moving equipment or supplies.
• Maintain required certifications (CPR, First Aid) and pass criminal/vulnerable sector checks.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years of experience caring for persons with intellectual, behavioural, or autistic disabilities.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Ability to work physically demanding tasks and lift up to 23 kg.
• Reliable, patient, honest, and able to manage time effectively.
