Library Page – Shelving & Support

About the role

The Library Page provides essential support to keep the Toronto Public Library’s collections organized and accessible. Working on‑site, you will sort, shelve, and maintain library materials while ensuring a welcoming environment for patrons.

Key responsibilities

• Sort books and other library materials.
• Shelve books, magazines, audiovisual items, and other resources.
• Perform shelf‑reading to verify correct placement.
• Pack and unpack deliveries of library items.
• Assist with ancillary duties such as photocopying, straightening shelves, and tidying tables and lounges.
• Process and repair materials, including typing, taping, labeling, recovering books, and cleaning audiovisual equipment.
• Carry out other related tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum age of 14 years.
• Understanding of public service philosophy and commitment to equity and access.
• Ability to read English and discriminate between numbers.
• Attention to fine detail and ability to follow instructions independently.
• Friendly, courteous demeanor.

Required skills

• Basic literacy in English.
