Laboratory Assistant (Float) – Part‑Time

About the role

Dynacare is seeking a part‑time Laboratory Assistant (Float) to join its network of labs across the Greater Toronto Area. You will process blood and other specimens, enter requisitions and results accurately, and provide compassionate customer service to patients.

Key responsibilities

• Collect blood samples and other specimens using venipuncture and other collection techniques.
• Perform ECGs, Holter monitor hookups, and collect urine, drug, and breath‑alcohol samples.
• Enter patient, test, and requisition data into the laboratory information system with high accuracy.
• Sort, label, and prepare specimens for transport to the laboratory following SOPs.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and adhere to regulatory and quality standards.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation.
• Completion of a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistance course.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on empathy and patient care.

Required skills

• Venipuncture techniques.
• ECG operation.
• Holter monitoring setup.
• Specimen collection (blood, urine, drug, breath‑alcohol).
• Data entry into laboratory systems.
