About the role

The Director of Care leads the coordination and scheduling of resident care activities in a long‑term care home, ensuring compliance with legislation and fostering an environment that supports optimal health and welfare for residents and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule resident care activities in compliance with applicable legislation.
• Respond to resident or family concerns, taking appropriate action or escalating to the Administrator.
• Report complaints to the MLTC director and conduct investigations with required follow‑up.
• Coordinate the Annual Care Conference Program.
• Maintain the highest standard of resident care through development and maintenance of care plans, supervision of nursing staff, provision of equipment and supplies, and appropriate staffing patterns.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant management experience in long‑term care.
• Current certificate of competence with the provincial College of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
• Post‑secondary education in nursing, nursing administration or gerontology.
• Diploma or certificate in organizational management.
