Junior Plant Operator

About the role

This entry‑level position provides a pathway into plant operations at an advanced organics processing facility. You will support daily plant activities, gain hands‑on experience with equipment, and develop the skills needed to become a full Plant Operator.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Plant Operators with monitoring and operating processing systems such as pulpers, grit removal, digesters, and dewatering equipment.
• Perform routine operational rounds, equipment checks, and basic troubleshooting.
• Support sampling, inspections, and process data collection, including use of SCADA monitoring tools.
• Operate a counterbalance forklift and assist haulage drivers at shift start; handle bin emptying and conveyor belt clean‑ups.
• Maintain clean work areas, perform janitorial duties, and assist the maintenance department as needed.
• Record daily instrument readings and support machine and loader operators.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years of experience operating a counterbalance forklift in an industrial setting.
• General labor experience in a heavy‑industrial environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn plant processes.
