About the role
The IT Support Technician will be the first point of contact for all technology‑related requests from project staff working on the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit Project. The role combines hands‑on device support, user account administration, and server and network maintenance in a fast‑paced construction environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide primary IT support for project staff, handling tickets, troubleshooting laptops, desktops and mobile devices.
- Configure, provision and de‑provision devices during onboarding and off‑boarding processes.
- Administer Microsoft 365 services (Entra ID/Active Directory, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) and enforce MFA, conditional‑access and other security policies.
- Monitor and maintain on‑site and cloud Windows Server environments, including patching, backups and health checks.
- Manage Active Directory objects, group policies and access controls.
- Support network infrastructure (switches, Wi‑Fi, VPN) and coordinate with vendors for escalated issues.
- Enforce endpoint protection, patch management and regular access reviews.
- Maintain the IT asset register, documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with IT procurement, receiving equipment and managing vendor relationships.
Required profile
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 2–5 years of experience in IT Support, Systems Administration or Help‑Desk roles.
- Hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Entra ID, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint).
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory and networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Strong troubleshooting ability and capacity to manage competing priorities.
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS‑900, AZ‑900, MD‑102) and experience with Intune or similar MDM are assets.
- Familiarity with Azure or hybrid cloud environments is an asset.
