IT Administrator (Contractor, up to 40 hrs/month)

About the role

We’re looking for an IT Administrator to support our growing, fully remote team at AEQ. This part‑time contract role (up to 40 hours per month) involves hands‑on management of day‑to‑day IT operations, employee onboarding and off‑boarding, and ensuring the performance and reliability of our cloud infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Provide remote technical support across the full employee lifecycle (onboarding, ongoing support, off‑boarding).
• Manage and resolve IT tickets with clear communication and documentation.
• Support and maintain cloud infrastructure, focusing on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Work within GCP services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, VPC networking, shared VPCs, VPN, and Interconnect.
• Monitor system performance, uptime, and disaster‑recovery readiness.
• Utilize Google Cloud Operations Suite (Stackdriver) for monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting.
• Provision infrastructure as code using Terraform or Google Cloud Deployment Manager.
• Administer identity and access management (IAM), service accounts, and least‑privilege policies.
• Monitor cloud usage and costs, applying FinOps principles.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues with minimal disruption.
• Set up and configure laptops and VR (Oculus) devices.
• Administer user accounts in Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, and other SaaS platforms.
• Manage software updates, patches, and system configurations.
• Identify and address security vulnerabilities, including phishing and endpoint protection.
• Educate team members on IT and security best practices.
• Maintain clear documentation of systems, configurations, and processes.
• Support light automation and scripting to improve efficiency.

• Proactive and reliable IT generalist who thrives in a fully remote environment.
• Strong ownership of issues and clear communication skills.
• Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform.
• Comfortable supporting both end users and cloud‑based systems.
