Instructional Designer and Development Specialist

About the role

The University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine is seeking an Instructional Designer and Development Specialist to join the Digital Solutions: Educational Technology portfolio. This two‑year fixed‑term role will lead the design, development and implementation of online learning artifacts that support the faculty’s educational objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, promote, develop and manage educational technology projects from analysis and conceptual design through implementation.
• Design and develop e‑modules, virtual patients, simulations, blended learning sessions and other digital learning resources.
• Collaborate with the Educational Technology team and faculty stakeholders to ensure resources align with curriculum goals.
• Maintain and update existing online learning artifacts to ensure consistency and sustainability.
• Contribute to project documentation, evaluation and continuous improvement of instructional solutions.

Required profile

• Experience in instructional design and development of digital learning materials for higher education or health education.
• Proven ability to manage projects through all phases, from needs analysis to delivery.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with faculty, technologists and support staff.
• Understanding of the educational objectives of a medical faculty and ability to translate them into effective digital solutions.
