Infrastructure Specialist – Part‑time Contractor

About the role

The client is seeking a part‑time Infrastructure Specialist to provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for its IT environment. Working three days a week, you will help maintain core infrastructure, ensure service availability, and assist the IT Manager in cloud migration and security initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Administer core services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Hyper‑V clusters, virtual machines, switches, firewalls and other networking equipment.
• Implement data protection and retention policies for on‑premises and cloud systems.
• Collaborate with the IT Manager to design, operate and secure the overall IT infrastructure.
• Lead the transition of workloads from on‑premises to cloud platforms.
• Monitor and tune services for optimal performance and availability.
• Manage hybrid email environments, archiving solutions and secure email gateways.
• Perform capacity planning and lifecycle management of all IT assets.
• Engage with stakeholders to define new system requirements and timelines.
• Provide Tier 3 escalation support until resolution.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation, diagrams and processes.

• Windows Server 2019 + administration, Windows updates, Remote Desktop Services.
• Basic Linux administration.
• Hyper‑V, virtual machine management.
• SAN technologies – Fibre Channel, iSCSI, storage provisioning.
• Microsoft Exchange 2016, Exchange Online, email archiving, e‑discovery.
• SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, VOIP phone systems.
• Office 365 administration.
• Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls, HP/Aruba switching, VPLS, routing, VPN, ACLs, TCP/IP, PXE.
• Cloud migration and hybrid cloud management.
• Mobile device management for iOS devices.
