Information Security Intern

About the role

Join Interac’s Threat & Vulnerability Management team as an Information Security Intern. You will work alongside seasoned security professionals to protect Canada’s leading payments network from evolving cyber threats.

Key responsibilities

• Learn about the cybersecurity landscape, relevant threats, and Interac’s role in the Canadian financial ecosystem.
• Maintain awareness of emerging threats, trends, and technology advancements that could affect the organization.
• Conduct comprehensive analyses and research on threats and vulnerabilities to support decision‑making.
• Lead investigations, applying critical thinking to uncover insights and solve complex problems.
• Prepare and deliver clear threat‑intelligence reports for internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at a recognized Canadian university, focusing on Cybersecurity, Information Security, Network Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Eligibility to work full‑time in Canada for Interac Corp.
• Passion for cybersecurity, strong desire to learn, and attention to detail.
• Foundational technical experience in cybersecurity or networking.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Required skills

• SANS GIAC certifications (GCLD, GCDA, GCIA) or pursuit of them.
• CompTIA CySa+ or equivalent certification.
• Scripting or software development experience.
• Cloud platform familiarity.
• Experience with ticket‑management platforms.
