Ice Maintenance Technician – Non‑Ticketed

About the role

The Ice Maintenance Technician (non‑ticketed) ensures the ice surfaces at Canlan Ice Sports facilities are safe, smooth, and ready for play. This hands‑on role involves operating specialized equipment, performing routine janitorial tasks, and maintaining the overall condition of the arena.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the Ice Resurfacer and Edger to flood, level, and finish the ice surface.
• Measure ice depth, chop/spud, and paint ice as required.
• Repair dasher board systems, replace arena glass, and refurbish hockey nets.
• Perform janitorial duties, including vacuuming, auto‑scrubbing, waxing, and floor care.
• Maintain entrances, grounds, and parking areas; handle grass cutting, snow removal, and debris cleanup.
• Conduct routine safety checks, cleaning, and maintenance on ice‑maintenance equipment.
• Complete required checklists, records, and equipment sign‑out forms.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Valid driver’s licence (preferred).
• Previous experience operating ice‑resurfacing equipment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a proactive, team‑oriented attitude.
• Organised, self‑motivated, and able to follow safety procedures.
