HSE Coordinator

About the role

The HSE Coordinator joins a multi‑disciplinary team at Strike’s shop and module yard in Crossfield, Alberta. The role supports management and front‑line staff in implementing and monitoring the company’s Health, Safety and Environment Management System and related standards, fostering a strong safety culture on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Assist operations management and employees with the HSE Management System and Safe Work Manuals.
• Develop, test and maintain Emergency Response Plans and Site‑Specific Safety Plans.
• Coordinate daily HSE activities such as pre‑job HIACs, site inspections, incident reporting and safety meetings.
• Create, communicate and train on safe job procedures, work practices and codes of practice.
• Support worker injury resolution, modified work programs and workers’ compensation claim management.
• Administer and analyse safety observation cards, monitor near‑misses and advise on hazard identification and control.
• Implement Strike’s Alcohol & Drug policy, including testing coordination.
• Maintain MSDS inventory in both hard‑copy and electronic formats.
• Conduct worksite inspections, safety observations and provide coaching as needed.
• Manage PPE inventory, procurement and oversee inspection and maintenance of safety equipment.
• Lead or assist in incident investigations and ensure accurate data entry in the incident management system.
• Participate in contractor health and safety assessments and pre‑qualification processes.

Required skills

• Experience with MSDS inventory management.
• Proficiency in using an incident management system.
• Familiarity with online training platforms (eSchool).
• Knowledge of safety equipment inspection and maintenance procedures.
