HCA Instructor – Part‑time Nursing Educator

About the role

Discovery Community College is seeking a dedicated HCA Instructor to deliver on‑site, online, and in‑person theory courses for nursing students. This part‑time position starts on May 23, 2026, with a schedule of Tuesday‑Thursday evenings and Saturdays, plus weekly office hours.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning in the classroom, providing guidance and support.
• Ensure compliance with program accreditation standards, regulatory guidelines, and college policies.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and evaluations.
• Execute lesson plans using the preset curriculum aligned with PTIRU compliance.
• Assess student performance and deliver constructive feedback.
• Foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
• Stay current with best practices and developments in nursing education.

Required profile

• Minimum 2,800 hours of nursing experience, including maternity, mental health, or acute care.
• Current full registration with the BCCNM as an LPN, RN, or RDPN.
• Recent experience (within two years) in a long‑term care facility in Canada.
• Previous instructor experience is an asset.
• Strong communication and mentorship abilities.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles.
• Commitment to fostering a positive educational experience.
• Ability to work on‑site at the college.
