Systems Trainer – 1 Year Fixed-Term Position

About the role

The Systems Trainer provides a central training and support service for the district’s Information Services. Working on a one‑year fixed‑term contract, the role involves creating, delivering, and maintaining in‑house training programs for hardware and software used across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, document, and continuously revise training programs related to district‑wide hardware and software applications.
• Schedule, organize, and conduct classroom and one‑on‑one training sessions for employees at all levels, including union and non‑union staff.
• Prepare training manuals and procedural guides for use during classes and on‑site support.
• Operate end‑user products, review vendor manuals, and identify potential user difficulties.
• Provide telephone or on‑site assistance, demonstrating applications and customizing solutions to meet local needs.
• Advise users on software or system issues and recommend improvements.
• Stay informed of departmental and office procedure changes that may impact computer applications.
• Collaborate with Information Services staff to test software, update systems, and support assigned programs.

Required profile

• Knowledge of computer systems used in administrative environments and the practical considerations of system changes.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to users with limited computer experience.
• Skill in developing instructional materials and training documentation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
