Global Controller

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing AI startup in Toronto that is looking for a hands‑on Global Controller. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own the full finance and accounting function and help shape the company’s financial strategy as it scales.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Prepare and oversee IFRS financial statements.
• Manage the external audit from start to finish.
• Design and scale financial processes to support rapid growth.
• Oversee treasury, cash management and working‑capital optimisation.
• Handle all corporate tax filings, including SR&ED credits.
• Own budgeting and forecasting cycles.
• Produce board‑ready financial reporting.

Required profile

• CPA designation (required).
• 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Background in public accounting at the Manager level, preferably Big 4.
• Previous experience as Controller in a VC‑backed startup.
• Hands‑on attitude with a strong ownership mindset.

Required skills

• IFRS reporting.
• Corporate tax compliance, including SR&ED.
