About the role
We are partnering with a fast‑growing AI startup in Toronto that is looking for a hands‑on Global Controller. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own the full finance and accounting function and help shape the company’s financial strategy as it scales.
Key responsibilities
- Lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes.
- Prepare and oversee IFRS financial statements.
- Manage the external audit from start to finish.
- Design and scale financial processes to support rapid growth.
- Oversee treasury, cash management and working‑capital optimisation.
- Handle all corporate tax filings, including SR&ED credits.
- Own budgeting and forecasting cycles.
- Produce board‑ready financial reporting.
Required profile
- CPA designation (required).
- 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Background in public accounting at the Manager level, preferably Big 4.
- Previous experience as Controller in a VC‑backed startup.
- Hands‑on attitude with a strong ownership mindset.
Required skills
- IFRS reporting.
- Corporate tax compliance, including SR&ED.
