Full-Time Elementary French Second Language Teacher

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is for an Elementary Teacher who will deliver French as a Second Language instruction to primary students at Ignace Public School, part of the Keewatin‑Patricia District School Board in Northwestern Ontario.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess French second‑language lessons for primary grades.
• Develop curriculum‑aligned instructional materials and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learner needs.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators and support staff to support student achievement.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions and school events.
• Complete required documentation, including progress reports and attendance records.

Required profile

• Ontario Teacher Certification with appropriate French qualifications (Primary/Junior or Junior/Intermediate).
• Relevant teaching experience in elementary French language instruction.
• Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Record Check at the employee’s expense.
• Three professional references, one of which must be a recent supervisor.
• Membership in the ETFO union as required by the collective agreement.
