About the role

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education is building its Substitute Teacher List for the 2026‑2027 school year. Selected candidates will be added to the EasyConnect system and can begin accepting teaching assignments in schools across the region.

Required profile

Valid Nova Scotia Teaching Certificate.
Completion of elementary or secondary teaching methods courses at the appropriate level.
Major or minor in the subject area for math or English assignments, or equivalent experience (minimum three years teaching at least 40 % of the subject within the past seven years).

Required documents

Two written references from supervisors who have observed your teaching.
University or college transcripts confirming your teaching licence and BEd.
Void cheque or direct‑deposit form for payroll.
Current criminal records check and vulnerable sector check (issued within six months of start date).
Child Abuse Register (CAR) search results (issued within six months of start date).
For French‑language candidates, a successful French Proficiency Interview result.
