Frontend Software Engineer – Operator Core Tooling

About the role

As a Frontend Software Engineer on the Operator Core Tooling pod, you will build the robust services that power Lyft’s micromobility operations platform. Your work will give operations teams intuitive, efficient tools to manage the fleet and improve daily workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Define roadmap and architecture aligned with technology and business needs.
• Write clean, well‑tested, maintainable JavaScript code.
• Explain trade‑offs behind technical decisions.
• Participate in code reviews and share knowledge across teams.
• Lead projects from concept through successful execution.
• Incorporate business context and failure‑mode considerations into designs.
• Assist in incident resolution and provide ongoing support.
• Deliver brown‑bag sessions, tech talks, and champion engineering best practices.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Advanced knowledge of JavaScript and modern frameworks such as React.
• Experience building Node.js/Express applications.
• Familiarity with design systems (e.g., Bootstrap, Salesforce Lightning, GitHub Primer).
• Strong understanding of web performance, browsers, and the DOM.
• Hands‑on experience with unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing.
• Proven ability to design, build, and evolve a set of reusable components.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to help fellow engineers.
