Frontend Engineer – JavaScript Infrastructure

About the role

Stripe is looking for a Frontend Engineer to join its JavaScript Infrastructure team. You will help shape the tools, libraries, and services that power the productivity of Stripe’s frontend engineers, enabling faster and more reliable delivery of user‑facing products.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain Stripe’s frontend package manager, build toolchain, bundler configuration, and TypeScript infrastructure.
• Define and enforce best‑practice standards across JavaScript codebases through tooling and guidelines.
• Own Service Level Objectives for build performance, installation speed, and tooling reliability.
• Debug and resolve developer‑facing incidents during on‑call rotations.
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to identify friction points and improve core development workflows.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 + years of software development experience with strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills.
• Experience working on complex, globally‑used web applications.
• Systems‑thinking mindset, able to consider edge cases, failure modes, and downstream impact.
• Self‑driven, comfortable tackling ambiguous problems with high autonomy.
• Excellent written communication for sharing decisions across distributed teams.
