Fleet Manager – Transportation & Maintenance Operations

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Fleet Manager to lead transportation and maintenance operations for a growing fleet in Ottawa. The role combines strategic asset management, vendor coordination, and hands‑on supervision of a licensed technician team to ensure safety, compliance and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate fleet assets, determine replacement needs and manage vehicle lifecycle.
• Develop and enforce fleet service standards, operational policies and best practices.
• Negotiate contracts, monitor vendor performance and ensure compliance with transportation regulations.
• Oversee day‑to‑day garage operations, preventative maintenance schedules and warranty/insurance repairs.
• Control budgets, inventory, and cost centres while reporting performance metrics.
• Lead, coach and develop mechanics, technicians and administrative staff in a safety‑focused environment.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years of fleet management or transportation maintenance experience.
• Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a fleet or maintenance setting.
• Valid Ontario 310T licence (or combined 310S/310T) and ODP certification with A/C experience or willingness to obtain.
• Strong knowledge of light‑duty diesel and gasoline vehicle repair and familiarity with the Ontario Health & Safety Act and National Safety Code.

What we offer

• Salary $80,000 – $100,000 CAD per year, based on experience
