Financial Analyst

About the role

The Financial Analyst will support the Finance department of Ontario Northland Transportation Commission by preparing, monitoring, and reporting financial and statistical data. This role provides timely, accurate information to Cost Centre Managers and Executives to aid strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly divisional financial statements and analyze budget‑to‑actual variances, providing written commentary.
• Monitor and reconcile divisional revenue streams, ensuring accurate reporting of earned and unearned revenues.
• Develop quarterly forecasts and annual budgets, including three‑year business plans, using financial models.
• Provide financial insights, scenario analysis, and cost models for potential projects.
• Support Business Analysis, Planning, and Intelligence teams with KPI data and budget availability.
• Complete special assignments such as statistical reporting, journal entries, audit support, and training documentation.

Required profile

• University degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2‑3 years of experience as a Financial Analyst or similar role.
• CPA designation required or in progress.
• Strong analytical, detail‑oriented, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
