Payroll Analyst – 35 hrs/week

About the role

Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Analyst provides payroll and pension support to employees, processes bi‑weekly payroll cycles for designated groups, administers Teachers’ Pension and OMERS, maintains employee data in the payroll system and issues Records of Employment.

Key responsibilities

• Administer conditions of employment, process new hires, salary adjustments, leaves and statutory pay.
• Execute full‑cycle bi‑weekly payroll for both union and non‑union staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare year‑end reporting, including T4s and pension documentation.
• Verify and calculate earnings, deductions, and pension contributions, including EI, CPP, tax, union dues and other rates.
• Investigate pay discrepancies, document rationale and generate related reports.
• Coordinate pension matters, respond to OMERS/TPP inquiries and provide proof of eligible service.
• Train new payroll analysts on processes and document procedures.
• Identify and recommend efficiencies for payroll and pension processes.

Required profile

• Experience processing bi‑weekly payroll in a union and non‑union environment.
• Knowledge of Ontario pension plans (Teachers’ Pension, OMERS) and related reporting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to investigate and resolve pay differences.
• Capability to train and mentor junior payroll staff.
• Effective communication with internal departments and external pension providers.
