Equine Sample Collection Technician

About the role

Racing Forensics Inc. is seeking dedicated technicians to work on‑site at racetracks across Canada. You will be responsible for collecting blood samples from racehorses, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory protocols and chain‑of‑custody requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens from racehorses following CPMA Equine Drug Control Program guidelines.
• Verify horse identification and accurately label each sample.
• Complete and organize all required documentation and maintain precise records.
• Securely transport specimens to the designated testing laboratory.
• When required, administer intravenous medication in accordance with regulations.
• Collaborate with race officials to ensure full compliance with sample collection procedures.

Required profile

• Experience working safely with horses.
• Registered Veterinary Technician/Technologist (RVT) or equivalent training preferred.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays based on race schedules.
• Maintain independence with no affiliations to owners, trainers, grooms or other racing participants.
• High level of professionalism, discretion and integrity.
