iCON Program Manager – Digital Emergency Medicine

About the role

The iCON Program Manager leads the flagship iCON portfolio within the Digital Emergency Medicine (DigEM) initiative at UBC's Department of Emergency Medicine. Reporting to the Associate Lead, Research, the role oversees community‑engagement and research projects that improve health equity for multicultural and Indigenous populations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic, operational, and functional oversight of multiple iCON projects, including design, work‑plan development, timeline setting, and delivery of funder commitments.
• Supervise 6‑12 junior staff and students, allocate resources, and ensure compliance with university, faculty, and external funding policies.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, and contract negotiations; monitor expenditures to keep projects on schedule and within financial limits.
• Coordinate grant applications, pursue new funding opportunities, and prepare regular reports and invoicing for funders.
• Serve as primary liaison with community partners, funding bodies, clinicians, health authorities, and internal investigators, fostering strategic collaborations across DigEM initiatives.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in leading multi‑project research or health‑program initiatives, preferably in a university or health‑system setting.
• Proven ability to supervise and mentor junior staff, manage budgets, and negotiate service contracts.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement, reporting to funders, and presenting research outcomes.
• Experience working with multicultural and Indigenous communities and an understanding of culturally safe care.
