Emergency Medicine Physician (Part‑time/Full‑time)

About the role

The hospital seeks part‑time and full‑time Emergency Medicine Physicians to staff its 24‑hour emergency department and cover occasional shifts at the regional ED in Nanaimo. Physicians will join a modern 52‑bed acute‑care facility with a 3‑bed ICU and a range of allied services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide immediate assessment and treatment of medical, surgical, and psychiatric emergencies.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including anesthesiology, surgery, radiology and more.
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including CT imaging via the PACS system.
• Participate in teaching activities through the University of British Columbia affiliation.
• Cover on‑call shifts in the regional emergency department as needed.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible Emergency Medicine physician.
• CPSBC USA registration acceptable.
• Available to start as soon as possible.
• Willing to work part‑time or full‑time in a rural setting.
• Interest in academic involvement and community health.

Required skills

• Emergency medicine clinical expertise.
• Acute care management.
• Proficiency with medical imaging (CT, PACS) interpretation.
