Elementary Literacy Curriculum Coordinator

About the role

The Elementary Literacy Curriculum Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of evidence‑based reading and writing instruction across the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario. This permanent position supports teachers, monitors student progress, and ensures alignment with provincial and board standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and coordinate elementary literacy curriculum using systematic, explicit instruction frameworks.
• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 professional development and coaching to teachers.
• Monitor early reading data through tools such as Acadience, Lexia Core 5, and EnCompass and advise on instructional adjustments.
• Lead the implementation of the Right to Read recommendations and the Board’s Tiered Reading Intervention Framework.
• Collaborate with school teams to plan and deliver job‑embedded learning experiences.
• Travel to rural schools as needed and maintain accurate records of activities.

Required profile

• Ontario College of Teachers certificate with Primary and Junior Division qualifications.
• Reading Specialist and Special Education Specialist designations.
• Extensive knowledge of evidence‑based literacy programs (Acadience, UFLI, Heggerty, thinkSRSD, ONlit, Walk to Read).
• Familiarity with OHRC Right to Read inquiry, Lexia Core 5, Power Up, and EnCompass assessment data.
• Proven experience supporting teachers, analyzing reading data, and delivering professional development.
• Valid driver’s licence, access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel across the board.
