Drafting Technician

About the role

Sandvik Mining is looking for a Drafting Technician to create precise technical drawings and support continuous‑improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment. You will work closely with engineering, production and quality teams to ensure documentation meets functional and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings, models and schematics using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Update and maintain engineering drawings and documentation throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
• Apply Lean methodologies (5S, Kaizen, value‑stream mapping, standard work) to improve drafting workflows, reduce waste and support continuous‑improvement projects.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers and production staff to provide timely drawing updates for prototypes and production launches.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action activities related to design or documentation issues.
• Maintain digital file structures, revision control and document‑management systems.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in Drafting, CAD Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology or a related field.
• Associate degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology or a related discipline.
• Formal training in CAD software through an accredited program.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Inventor.
• Knowledge of Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, value‑stream mapping and standard work.
