Director of IT & Security

About the role

This senior leadership position sits at the intersection of IT operations, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance within a mission‑driven, education‑focused technology environment. You will define and execute the organization’s security and IT strategy, ensuring resilient, scalable systems that meet evolving compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead IT operations planning and execution, overseeing infrastructure, systems, and network reliability in an agile environment.
• Own and evolve the cybersecurity roadmap, including risk management, security architecture, and cloud security controls.
• Ensure compliance with frameworks such as PIPEDA, FERPA, COPPA, GDPR, and CCPA, coordinating audits and managing evidence.
• Oversee incident management processes, from escalation to post‑incident reviews and corrective actions.
• Drive security awareness initiatives and embed secure‑by‑design principles across the software development lifecycle.
• Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and support security reviews, RFPs, and customer due‑diligence requirements.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management for the multidisciplinary IT team.
• Plan and optimize infrastructure to ensure scalability, security, and alignment with business needs.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in IT, infrastructure, or cybersecurity roles.
• At least 2 years of people‑management experience.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and navigate complex regulatory environments.
• Strong strategic thinking combined with hands‑on technical oversight.
