Director of Communications

About the role

The Director of Communications will shape the public perception of a mission‑driven mobility technology company operating in the public transit and civic technology space. Based in Canada, this senior leader will define and scale a unified communications strategy that aligns brand, content, PR, social media, and executive messaging with business priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and expand a multidisciplinary communications function covering brand, content, PR, social media, and proposals.
• Define and evolve brand strategy, positioning, messaging frameworks, and measure brand awareness and reputation impact.
• Build and operationalize scalable communications systems, workflows, and AI‑enabled tools.
• Develop integrated content strategies to support thought leadership and pipeline generation.
• Own executive communications, including keynote narratives, leadership messaging, and presentations.
• Drive public relations, media relations, product launches, and industry positioning.
• Partner with product, sales, customer success, and executive teams to ensure narrative alignment.
• Establish crisis communication frameworks, media monitoring, and competitive intelligence processes.
• Support investor and customer communications to reinforce trust and long‑term engagement.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in communications, corporate marketing, PR, or brand leadership within B2B SaaS or mission‑driven technology environments.
• Proven track record leading multidisciplinary teams across content, brand, communications, and PR.
• Strong ability to define, track, and influence brand or reputation metrics tied to business outcomes.
• Exceptional storytelling and writing skills, capable of simplifying complex technical topics.
• Experience building narrative systems, positioning frameworks, or organization‑wide communications strategies.
• Executive presence with experience advising senior leadership.
