Cybersecurity Architect – Operations

About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking a Cybersecurity Architect to lead the design and implementation of operational security solutions. This senior‑level position will guide the Security Operations Centre (SOC) in protecting university assets, ensuring compliance with privacy and security standards, and responding to major incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical expertise for cybersecurity operations, including architecture, control design, and implementation.
• Lead reviews of security controls, assess initiatives, and support major incident response activities.
• Develop and maintain cybersecurity standards, processes, and policies aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
• Research emerging trends and recommend innovative solutions to strengthen operational security.
• Mentor and coach SOC staff, fostering best practices and continuous improvement.
