Course Lecturer – Theory and Praxis of Culture and Citizenship

About the role

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to teach EDER 626-001/002 – Theory and Praxis of Culture and Citizenship in the Fall 2026 term. The role involves delivering face‑to‑face instruction, guiding critical discussions, and assessing student learning.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver weekly lectures and seminars on contemporary ethics, cultural education models, and Quebec’s Culture and Citizenship program.
• Develop course materials, assignments, and assessment tools aligned with the Quebec Education Program.
• Grade student work and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in course coordination and planning meetings at least two weeks before the start date.
• Collaborate with a team of instructors to ensure cohesive delivery of the curriculum.

Required profile

• PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant field; a master’s degree with extensive experience may be considered in exceptional cases.
• Expert knowledge of contemporary ethics, cultural citizenship theory, and the Quebec Culture and Citizenship program.
• Familiarity with the Professional Competencies for Teachers mandated by the Ministère de l’Éducation and the Quebec Education Program.
• Proven experience teaching in the Quebec secondary school system and delivering similar courses to pre‑service teachers.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in pedagogy.

Required skills

• Proficiency with myCourses learning management system.
• Experience using Zoom for virtual classroom support.
• Ability to integrate a variety of digital teaching and learning tools.
