Course Lecturer – Philosophical Foundations (EDEC 260)

About the role

McGill University’s Department of Integrated Studies in Education seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to teach the undergraduate course EDEC 260 – Philosophical Foundations in the Fall 2026 term. The position involves delivering in‑person lectures, guiding student discussions, and integrating contemporary educational issues into the curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver two weekly lectures (Tuesday & Thursday, 1:05 pm‑2:25 pm) for a 3‑credit course.
• Design and assess assignments, exams, and class participation.
• Utilize the myCourses platform, Zoom, and other digital tools to enhance learning.
• Incorporate equity, diversity, and inclusion principles into course content and delivery.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide timely feedback.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (MA) in education foundations (philosophy, sociology, history of education, curriculum studies, or educational leadership) with extensive experience as a school or community educator.
• PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset.
• Expert knowledge of philosophy of education, history of educational ideas, and contemporary education issues.
• Proven experience teaching similar undergraduate or graduate courses.
• Experience in school administration, institutional leadership, or community leadership in Quebec is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with myCourses learning management system.
• Experience using Zoom for instructional purposes.
• Familiarity with blended‑class teaching and a variety of digital teaching and learning tools.
