Course Lecturer – L2 Learning: Classroom Settings (Fall 2026)

About the role

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer for the Fall 2026 term to teach EDSL 305 – L2 Learning: Classroom Settings. This three‑credit course introduces theory and research in second language acquisition, preparing pre‑service teachers to evaluate and develop effective teaching procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and facilitate classroom activities on Monday afternoons (11:35 am–2:25 pm) in Education Building (EDUC 624).
• Design and assess assignments, exams, and projects aligned with course objectives.
• Provide feedback to students and support their learning of SLA concepts.
• Participate in course coordination and planning meetings at least two weeks before the start date.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Second Language Education or a closely related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Demonstrated expert knowledge of second language acquisition theory and research.
• Familiarity with the Quebec Education Program and the professional competencies defined by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
• Previous successful experience teaching similar courses to pre‑service teachers.
• Teaching qualification or equivalent experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).
• Commitment to collaborate with a team of engaged instructors.
