Course Lecturer – Elementary School Mathematics 1 (EDEE 230-001)

About the role

McGill University’s Department of Integrated Studies in Education seeks a Course Lecturer to teach Elementary School Mathematics 1 (EDEE 230-001) in the Fall 2026 term. The position involves delivering a three‑credit, face‑to‑face course designed for pre‑service elementary teachers.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess lectures and classroom activities on elementary mathematics content, reasoning, and pedagogy.
• Provide feedback and grading for student assignments and examinations.
• Collaborate with the DISE teaching team and attend coordination meetings at least two weeks before the course start date.
• Ensure alignment with the Quebec Education Program and the Ministry of Education’s professional competencies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience in exceptional cases).
• Teaching qualification or equivalent and proven experience teaching in elementary schools.
• Demonstrated expertise in elementary mathematics pedagogy.
• Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP) and related professional competencies.
• Previous successful experience teaching similar courses to pre‑service teachers.
• Commitment to teamwork and availability for planning meetings.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of elementary mathematics pedagogy.
