Course Lecturer – Basic Design (EDEA 296-001)

About the role

The Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer to teach the Basic Design course (EDEA 296-001) in the Fall 2026 term. The position involves delivering studio‑based instruction to undergraduate students, guiding them through two‑dimensional composition and three‑dimensional construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver weekly 3‑hour lectures and studio sessions on visual art fundamentals.
• Develop and assess assignments, projects, and critiques aligned with course objectives.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive studio environment that reflects equity, diversity and inclusion principles.
• Utilize myCourses, Zoom and other digital tools to support blended learning activities.
• Collaborate with departmental staff on curriculum development and reporting.

Required profile

• Master Educator with an MA in visual arts education, design, or a closely related field; extensive relevant teaching experience is essential.
• PhD or equivalent in a related discipline is an asset.
• Proven experience teaching studio‑based visual arts or design courses at the undergraduate level.
• Familiarity with Quebec’s Ministry of Education professional competencies.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in pedagogy.

Required skills

• Proficiency with myCourses learning management system.
• Experience using Zoom for synchronous instruction.
• Ability to integrate digital teaching and learning tools into studio practice.
