Cook – Part‑time in Long‑Term Care (Lambton County)

About the role

The County of Lambton is seeking a part‑time Cook to prepare balanced, nutritious meals for residents, outreach programmes, Meals on Wheels and staff across its long‑term care facilities. You will work with a variety of food textures and ensure consistency, portion control and inventory management.

Key responsibilities

• Review production schedules, estimate ingredients and prepare meals according to menus, special dietary needs and Ministry requirements.
• Slice, chop, mix, pulse and puree food items for sandwiches, salads, soups and other dishes.
• Cook meats and vegetables using a full range of cooking methods and bake regular and diet‑specific desserts.
• Assemble and distribute food to apartments, outreach programmes, day‑care, Meals on Wheels and occasional special luncheons while maintaining quality and temperature standards.
• Prepare trays for outside catering orders and substitute menu items when necessary.
• Maintain clean work areas, sanitize equipment, dispose of spoiled products and wash dishes.
• Train and guide other staff performing similar duties.

Required profile

• Up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County policies and procedures.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift supplies and perform repetitive cooking tasks.
